The Aiden Markram-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and the Faf du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will go head-to-head in the 65th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad on Thursday, May 18.

Sunrisers Hyderabad have had a terrible season once again and they have already been eliminated from the playoffs race. The Aiden Markram-led side have won just 4 out of 12 matches and faced 8 defeats, as a result, they are at the bottom of the IPL 2023 points table. The only bright spot for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) this season has been Proteas batter Heinrich Klaasen, who has performed well consistently.

On the other hand, Royal Challengers Bangalore pretty much have a great chance of making the playoffs. They are currently in the 5th position on the points table with 6 wins from 12 games. The victory in the remaining two games will more-or-less assure RCB of a final-four berth as they have a great net-run rate.

However, if RCB lose tonight it will be a huge blow to the side and a win for SRH will help both CSK and LSG qualify for the playoffs.

Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and opted to field first in the match. At the toss, Faf du Plessis said that they have fielded the same team as Wanindu Hasaranga is still not fit to play. Faf du Plessis said:

“We are gonna have a bowl. The last two nights we have had some dew. Good surface but touch on the slower side. Same team as last game. Hasaranga has a niggle. Bracewell strengthens our batting. We have to start afresh. The game of cricket has a funny way of biting you. You have to have the humility of looking at a fresh game.”

Aiden Markram revealed that they have made two changes to the playing XI as Harry Brook and Kartik Tyagi have been included in the playing XI.

“We would have looked to bat. Not too disappointed. Couple of changes. Brook comes in. Tyagi comes in as well. Umran is an x-factor player. Lot of pride to play for. We haven’t lived up to the ability. We should try to showcase that at the world stage in the last two games,” he said.
