Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra believes the Royal Challengers Bangalore dominated with their performance in their last two games in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Aakash Chopra believes that RCB’s back-to-back wins in a comfortable manner should be warning signs for the other teams.

The Bangalore-based franchise beat the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by eight wickets at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Thursday, May 18. The Bangalore bowlers bowled out the Rajasthan Royals (RR) for 59 runs in their previous encounter to register the biggest margin (112 runs) in terms of runs in the IPL 2023.

Bangalore Are Alive – Aakash Chopra

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra said that the Bangalore team kept their playoff hopes alive with a victory against the SRH.

“Bangalore are alive and they are properly alive. They have won their last two games in a canter. So the other teams should be slightly scared but who will progress will now only be known on Sunday evening,” Aakash Chopra said.

So Many Combinations Possible – Aakash Chopra

Aakash Chopra stated that the RCB should win their final match of the season in order to qualify for the playoffs. The renowned commentator said that the fortunes of the Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow Super Giants would be decided on Saturday.

“There are so many combinations possible that we still don’t know which team apart from GT (Gujarat Titans) will be able to progress. Bangalore’s simple story is that they can reach 16 points,” he added.

“Their last match is against GT, which will be at their home, but before that Mumbai will be playing Hyderabad. They can also reach 16 points. Before that, Chennai will play against Delhi in Delhi. If Chennai win – 17 points, qualify. If Lucknow wins the evening game – 17 points, qualify,” he continued.

The Bangalore-based franchise will take on the defending champion Gujarat Titans (GT) in their last league match at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday, May 21.

Mumbai And Bangalore Can Qualify – Aakash Chopra

The cricketer-turned-commentator concluded by saying that both RCB and MI could reach the knockout stages if one of CSK or LSG lose their final league match.

“If both don’t win, only one of those two teams might qualify, and then Mumbai and Bangalore can qualify. It is also possible that both of these teams and Mumbai qualify, and Bangalore don’t if they lose their last match,” he concluded.

The Rajasthan Royals, Punjab Kings, and Kolkata Knight Riders are still in the race, but they can only manage a maximum of 14 points by the end of the group stage. Their qualification scenario depends on the other team’s performance and Net Run Rate.
