Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja has criticized Grant Bradburn’s selection as the new head coach of the Pakistan National Cricket Team. Ramiz Raja also spoke against Najam Sethi’s views that local coaches in Pakistan are not professional.

Grant Bradburn was picked as the new head coach of the Pakistan team a few days ago. He will lead the Pakistan team for the next two years. Current PCB chairman Najam Sethi argued back in December 2022 that local coaches in Pakistan are not professional and they indulge in politics and nepotism because it is part of Pakistan’s culture.

In December 2022, Najam Sethi argued that local coaches indulge in politics and nepotism while a foreign coach won’t do favouritism.

“Local coaches are not professional coaches. Superstars in Pakistan can’t be coaching players, a foreign coach won’t do nepotism and favoritism but our local coaches do that because it’s in our culture,” Sethi had said.

It Is Injustice To Not Make Use Of Pakistani Coaches: Ramiz Raja

Speaking to Pakistan-based news portal Cricketpakistan.com, Ramiz Raja criticized the appointment of Grant Bradburn as the new Pakistan head coach. The former Pakistan cricketer said that it was an injustice to not appoint Pakistani coaches. He also said that PCB chief Najam Sethi has a low-level mindset regarding local coaches.

“It is injustice to not make use of Pakistani coaches. If you don’t want to hire, then at least give respect them. You can’t say they do politics and are useless. They [PCB] have selected a head coach, who has no experience anywhere else in the cricket circuit”, Ramiz Raja said.

“PCB have handed him our whole team, just because his skin colour is different than ours, so they believe he won’t do any politics. A person with a low-level mindset can think like that. Respect your system and coaches. Just because, if the coach has the same skin color as yours, don’t assume he would do politics,” Ramiz Raja was quoted as saying by Cricketpakistan.com.
