The incident took place during the 17th over of the Royals’ innings. Hetmyer was given out by the onfield umpire on the 17th over, but he immediately reviewed it. The third umpire overturned the decision as there was no spike on the ultra-edge. Sam Curran had a word with Hetmyer after the final ball of the over.

Speaking about the heated exchange in the middle, Shimron Hetmyer stated that the incident gave him a little bit more confidence to execute his plans in his batting. He said that he didn’t want to disclose the conversation between them.
“It’s always good to have someone say something to me, it doesn’t really happen much,” Shimron Hetmyer said.
“I really enjoyed it today, giving me a little bit more confidence and a little bit more energy to execute and do what I need to do. Not anything I can disclose here, to be honest,” he added.

Shimron Hetmyer scored 46 runs off 28 deliveries with the help of four boundaries and three sixes. The left-handed batter got dismissed by the bowling of Sam Curran on the fifth ball of the 19th over. The RR completed the 188-run chase with two balls to spare in the innings.
Earlier, Royals bowlers conceded 187 runs to the Punjab Kings after winning the toss. The RR picked up four wickets for just 50 runs on the board. However, the Kings batters made a comeback in the end, scoring 46 runs in the last two overs. Sam Curran scored 49 runs off 31 balls.
The Sanju Samson-led team are still in the play-off race, with 14 points in their pocket by the end of the group stage. The Jaipur-based franchise are in 5th place in the 10-team points table. Their qualification scenario depends on the other team’s performance.
