The highly-anticipated mega-auction of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 is all set to get down to the business this Saturday and Sunday (February 12 and 13) in Bengaluru. As many as 590 players from various countries will go under the hammer, including 370 Indians and 220 overseas players.

Notably, the fifteenth season of the cash-rich league is much more exciting for fans after the addition of two new teams that has made IPL a 10-team affair. The new sides are Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans, who will be captained by KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya, respectively.

Like any other season, this year too will feature players from all age brackets as quite a few young and old players are part of the players’ auction list. On that note, let’s have a look at the oldest and youngest player who will feature in the IPL 2022 mega-auction:

Imran Tahir

Veteran South African spinner Imran Tahir is the oldest player in the auction this year. The leg-spinner, who was part of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) squad that won the IPL in 2021, is 43 years old.

When it comes to Indian players, there is no one aged above 40. The oldest Indian players in the auction are Amit Mishra and S Sreesanth. Both are 39 years old.

From Rashid Khan to Mujeeb Ur Rahman, the talent that Afghanistan has produced is quite phenomenal. In the upcoming auction, eyes will be on another Afghanistan’s spinner Noor Ahmad, who is 17 years and 31 days old.

When it comes to Indian players, three names fit the category. These players are Sameer Rizvi (UPCA), Khrievitso Kense (NCA), and Aaqib Khan (UPCA). All three cricketers are 18 years old.
