KKR vs LSG: “Gautam Gambhir Is Always An Advantage For Us” – Lucknow Bowling Coach Morne Morkel Ahead Of The Match Against KKR

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) bowling coach Morne Morkel stated that the team will benefit from mentor Gautam Gambhir’s experience playing at the Eden Gardens. Morne Morkel is optimistic that the Lucknow Super Giants will advance to the playoffs of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.

The Lucknow-based franchise will take on the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their last league match of the IPL 2023 at the Eden Gardens on Saturday, May 20. The LSG players will don a special jersey, which will be green and maroon in colour, to pay tribute to the historic Mohun Bagan football club.

Gautam Gambhir Knows Eden Gardens – Morne Morkel

Morne Morkel stated that the team wanted to reach their first final match of the tournament and hoped that they could reach their destination.

“Gambhir is always an advantage for us. He played for KKR, he knows Eden Gardens, and he was the two-time champion captain. So, I think it’s an advantage, and hopefully, we could make it,” Morne Morkel said.

“Look we didn’t talk about this thing much. We need to do is to play and win. So, qualify is one thing. But playing final is the goal. Kolkata, Eden gardens is always a high scoring ground. This ground has a history. So hopefully we could make it,” he added.

Krunal Pandya Is A Strong Leader – Morne Morkel

Morkel praised Krunal Pandya and said that he is leading from the front by bowling in tough situations. The former South African pacer, who previously represented KKR as a player, said that he had fantastic memories with the franchise.

“He is exceptional. He is a strong leader, leading from the front. Captain went to bowl during tough situations. He is having a crucial role,” he further added.

“I try not to think about the differences. We have fantastic memories with Kolkata. Sport is another thing and relationship is another,” he continued.

The Krunal Pandya-led team are in third place in the 10-team table with 15 points in their pocket. The LSG will reach the knockout stages of the tournament if they win their final group-stage game.
