Former Team India head coach Ravi Shastri named the standout performers who are capable of making it into international cricket in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Ravi Shastri believes that the young uncapped batters Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rinku can be fast-tracked to the ODI World Cup 2023.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rinku Singh are in brilliant form in the ongoing season of the IPL. Yashasvi is the third-leading run-getter in the tournament, scoring 575 runs with an average of 47.92 and a strike rate of 166.18. Rinku Singh smashed 407 runs with an impressive average of 50.88 and a strike rate of 143.30.

He’s Hitting Around The Ground – Ravi Shastri

Speaking on the latest episode of The ICC Review, Ravi Shastri praised Yashasvi Jaiswal and said that the left-handed batter had improved a lot from last year. Shastri pointed out that Yashasvi worked on his range of shots to score all around the ground.

“One is (Yashasvi) Jaiswal, simply because of the way he’s played this season. And for me it is a marked improvement from what I saw from him last year, which is a very, very positive sign,” Ravi Shastri told ICC.

“It shows that there’s a young guy prepared to work on his game, sort out things, get a more all-round game into play and he’s done that this season. Just the power with which he’s re-taking shots. Just the pockets he’s hitting around the ground as opposed to last year is very good,” he added.

He’s Tough As Nails – Ravi Shastri

The cricketer-turned-commentator lauded Rinku Singh’s performances under pressure this season and said that the KKR batter had a fabulous temperament.

“The other bloke is Rinku Singh, which is a great story. The more I see of him, that guy has got a fabulous temperament. He’s tough as nails,” Shastri said.

“Both these guys have come through very hard backgrounds. They’ve worked very hard initially in their lives and nothing’s come easy for them. So you can see that hunger, that passion, that drive that is so needed to make it to the top,” he concluded.
