DC vs CSK: “The Scale Is Tilted Towards Chennai” – Aakash Chopra On CSK’s Match Against Delhi Capitals
Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra believes the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) would be the favourites in their IPL 2023 match against the Delhi Capitals (DC).
The two teams will square off in an afternoon clash on Saturday, May 20 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. A win for MS Dhoni and Co. guarantees them a playoff spot and, depending on the outcome of the Lucknow Super Giants-Kolkata Knight Riders match later in the day, might potentially ensure them a place in Qualifier 1.

In a video previewing the match that he posted on his YouTube account, Chopra expressed the opinion that the Chennai Super Kings should win. He did, however, also draw attention to their struggles against spin in the current Indian Premier League, noting:
“The scale is tilted towards Chennai. It is an afternoon game. The ball turned a lot in the last match that was played here. Prabhsimran Singh scored a century but everyone else was struggling. An uncomfortable fact is that Chennai is second among the teams to lose the most wickets against spin this year,” Aakash Chopra said.

“Spin bowling is not their problem at all but the batting has struggled a little. When the ball has come extremely slow off the surface, we have even seen Devon Conway getting troubled. We have seen Ruturaj Gaikwad also getting troubled. His season started on a high but it has plateaued slightly,” Aakash Chopra added.
“Ajinkya Rahane has scored a lot of runs against Delhi” – Aakash Chopra
Aakash Chopra’s statement suggests that he believes the batting lineup of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) might struggle on the turning track in Delhi. He is indicating that the CSK batters may find it challenging to adapt their batting technique and approach on a pitch that offers a significant turn to the spinners.
“Ajinkya Rahane has scored a lot of runs against Delhi but this pitch might not suit him if it is a typical Delhi surface. Shivam Dube plays well. Moeen Ali hasn’t scored runs at all. Then Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni, it has been a slight struggle against spin,” Aakash Chopra further added.
Aakash Chopra believes the Delhi Capitals’ batting+ will struggle against spin despite the fact that Prithvi Shaw is a welcome addition to the team, saying: “Prithvi Shaw is a good addition because they will get a player who can play spin. David Warner, Phil Salt, Rilee Rossouw, and Mitchell Marsh, if he plays, the batting is extremely overseas dependent which means the chances of getting stuck against spin increase that much.”
Delhi Capitals (DC) take on the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2023 match 67. This is the final league game for both clubs and a must-win for CSK to make the playoffs. Saturday, May 20th, at 3.30 p.m.
